Dianna carefully picked through her change until she came up with the right amount of money, shoving the rest of it back into her pocket. She gladly accepted the fries when they were ready, leaning against the wall while she waited for Joan's order to come as well.
Yes, she was extremely hungry and though fries probably wouldn't satisfy her as much as she needed to be, it would tame her angry, growling stomach until she could go home and clean out half of the fridge. "Yeah, fries are fine," Dianna smiled reassuringly with a bit of a shrug, gingerly picking through her fries before quietly popping one into her mouth.

She shrugged her shoulders, patiently waiting for her burger. "Alright then, suit yourself." Once Joan's burger was ready she happily accepted so and turned back to Dianna, unwrapping it from the foil and taking a bite. "Wanna go find somewhere to sit?" she asked around a mouthful of food.
She didn't eat here often, but when she did she knew she'd always be in for a treat. Whatever they were doing in the kitchens, they were definitely doing right. She scanned the area, searching for an empty table of some sort.

Dianna nodded, glancing around for a moment before making a beeline to an empty, garbage-free table. She took a seat at it and placed the skates down next to her chair and set her container of fries on the tabletop. Feeling her phone vibrating, she distractedly pulled it out, smiling at the endearingly worried text that her Mom had sent her, asking what she was up to.
Texting her mother back, Dianna looked back at Joan. "The fries here are good," she hummed with approval, even though she had only had one. "Want some?" She offered, gesturing to her small container of fries.

Joan giggled, accepting a few fries from Dianna before sliding into the seat opposite to her's. As Dianna had concluded moments ago, the fries were good. Joan absently tapped her hand against the pair of skates resting against her calve.
She quietly enjoyed her burger, glad was finally filling her empty stomach. Joan noticed Dianna texting and wondered why she hadn't gotten any word from her motheryet . Usually she would have embarrassingly called her or something by now. Maybe she had occupied herself with something other than worrying herself sick about her perfectly capable daughter.

Dianna hummed to herself once again, looking back at her phone when her mother excitedly texted her back, asking if she wanted to invite her new friend over for move night. She frowned a bit and looked slowly back towards Joan, staring unusually intently at her. She opened her mouth for a moment but quickly closed it. How was she supposed to ask someone that she just met not too long ago whether or not they wanted to attend a movie night with her family?
"How's the burger?" Dianna asked, toying with her phone in one hand while she popped another fry into her mouth. From the looks of it, it seemed pretty good. Judging by how well these fries were done, Dianna figured that she could safely assume that the burger was done up just as well.

Joan raised a curious eyebrow towards Dianna's intent stare. One of her eyebrows was always a little crooked, she never bothered to shape it to match the other. A little more arched than the other, a little shorter or not quite as thin. She had been pondering if Dianna had noticed something as trivial as unsymmetrical eyebrows far too deeply to realize she had spoken until it had gotten to the point of she seemed to not have heard her speak.
"Hm?" She blinked once, "Oh, its really good." She smiled to match the pleased tone in her voice. It was a very good burger, to tell the truth. She doubted she'd be able to finish it, as hungry as she was. The burger was quite large, for the cheap price.

Dianna nodded, thoughtfully looking back down at her fries and gingerly picked through them again, chomping down a few more before she looked back up at Joan, then distractedly towards the rink again to see the friend that she had come there with chatting up a rather tall, intimidating looking boy. Amused, she looked back at Joan.
"So, I was wondering...what are you doing later?" Dianna asked, sounding as casual as she possibly could, and discreetly gazed around to distract herself. "Because my mom is very...insistent when it comes to having movie nights...and tonight's that night...so I was wondering if you wanted to come too. I can give you a ride home whenever you want," she pursed her lips, aware that she had just barely managed to avoid word vomit.

Joan glanced over to Dianna's friend and the boy with her as she spoke, avoiding looking at Dianna while she blushed slightly. "Uhm, I'll have to talk to my mom first, but yeah, that sounds pretty cool." Even if watching a movie with Dianna would include her mom, it was still sweet of her to ask her to join.
She surprisingly did not know the intimidating looking boy Dianna's friend was talking to. Joan usually knew most of the people that attended this roller rink by face, some by name. Generally if someone came here once, they'd come again.

Dianna exhaled quietly, unaware until now that she had been holding her breath in anticipation. "I'll keep my parents away from you. And my brother knows better than to bother my friends," she promised, distracting herself with her food again and, surprisingly, shovelled the rest of her fries into her mouth, like she was trying to avoid talking anymore.
"Those were good," Dianna drawled, despite having said that they were good not long ago. "Are you up for trying to teach me to roller skate again?" She smiled with amusement, glancing towards the rink. From what she could see, there were slightly less people skating around now.

Joan smiled, "If you want to, sure. Just lemme finish my burger." She occupied herself with the food in front of her before Dianna could even answer. Joan successfully ate most of the burger before wrapping what was left up and stuffing it into Dianna's empty fry container.
A movie with just Dianna? Fuck yes, please. She felt almost guilty for having such feelings towards this girl. With her luck, she was straight or too good goody to fool around. She doubted that would happen even if Dianna was into girls.

Dianna smiled and nodded, gingerly tapping her fingertips on her thigh while she patiently waited for Joan to finish her food. "Did you want to use your own skates this time? I can try the rental ones," she frowned a bit out of concern. The rental skates must have practically killed Joan's feet. Her own feet were feeling a bit better, so she'd feel bad if she made Joan wear the crappy skates again.
Quickly, Dianna realized that she should probably text her brother and warn him to not bother her new friend. He was a year older than her, but she could swear that he acted like a toddler sometimes. Then again, so did she when they were having a bit of sibling rivalry going on between them, but that was completely beside the point. Texting her brother, she told him that someone might be joining them for movie night and to not be irritating. Knowing that she'd receive a perverted text back, Dianna got up slowly and stretched.

Joan scooped up her rentals from the floor, nodding to her skates beside Dianna's seat. "You can wear mine again, I don't mind." Her feet had adjusted to the poorly fitting roller skates, it wasn't a big deal. They could skate for a bit and then Joan could call her mom to tell her she'd be home later tonight than usual.
She picked up their trash from the table with her free hand, tossing it into the nearest garbage can. "Hurry up and get your skates on," she smiled playfully. If Dianna was doing good on the rink again they could try a little race.
