It's absolutely sad when a teenage girl has to carefully make her way through the kitchen because she knows that there's a few weak boards there and despite how small she is, her weight is still enough to put her through those boards. Jodie winced when one of the boards creaked, but at least she didn't go through the floor. Her expression softened slightly when she pulled the fridge door open to see that it was virtually empty. Was there anything she could eat in there? She bent over to slowly open the carton of eggs, wanting to know how many were left. Her previously worried expression hardened into a scowl when she heard the heavy footsteps of her mother's ex-husband, techically her former step-father. Yes, they all still lived together. Neither of them could afford to move out.
"Do you actually plan on staying here for a fucking change?"
Jodie gingerly smoothed her hand out over her hair. No, she wasn't planning on sticking around. The house was falling apart. She was sure that they were going to be on welfare soon. Sighing, Jodie straightened up and shut the fridge door, glancing towards the only man that lived there. "No, no I don't. Go put some clothes on. That's disgusting," she snapped when she realized that he was in only his boxers. If her best friend Koral had been told to describe Jodie's personality, she would say 'sweet', 'nice', 'innocent', and so on. Cerainly not 'angry' or anything like that. Jodie was never angry around anyone besides her mother and her mother's ex-husband.
"God, I hate your accent. Just as annoying as your mother's."
"That's enough," Jodie huffed, aiming a glare in his direction before walking away. She didn't know what thing she had done to piss karma off, because her mother was by the front door when she got there. "Don't start, please," she pleaded. "I need to go to work." Sure, it was a lie but she'd rather lie than stay there. Why couldn't she have just lived with her father instead of moving to the United States with her mother?
"Jodieliee..." she could tell by the careful way her mother was talking that she was going to suggest something and if she didn't react the way her mother wanted her to, her mother would get angry, "...how do you feel about rent, darling?"
"Rent. I'm your sixteen year old daughter! Why the hell woud I have to pay rent?!"
And it took Jodie another twenty minutes to get out of her house. She was so intent to get out of there that she entirely forgot about her hoodie. Luckily, she had her phone, smokes, and lighter with her already. Keeping her eyes down, Jodie angrily wiped her eyes, deciding on going to the park first. She couldn't believe the nerve of that woman! There wasn't really much she could do. She did her fair share of yelling as well. The adults would never dream of hitting Jodie, though. They did have their morals, however sligh they were. Jodie growled with frustration when her eyes remained wet, eventually giving up on drying them for the time being as she whipped out her phone and decided exactly what she was going to do. Going to her contacts, she decided to text Addeline.
hey darl, you busy? wanna join me at the park? xo
Sending the text, Jodie sighed heavily and pocketed her phone. She needed a smoke. When she reached the park, she was beyond happy that there were no little children around at that moment. Actually, there was nobody around at all. Good. She thought bitterly, wiping at one eye and gasped back a short cry. Was she stressed? Maybe. But Jodie knew exactly why she was so moody at the moment; she hadn't been tending to her heroin addiction lately. She'd have to stop by Koral's house later and get some. She was sure that she'd be bright and happy by the time Addie got there, if she decided to keep her company.
