Kevin hummed cheerfully to himself, fondly rubbing his daughter's back while he carried her down the path. He was rather amused by the fact that everything that he asked her to name, it was always 'Dog!'. That had actually been her first word, much to her aunt's distaste. In the distance, he could see two redheads patiently waiting for him. He waved slightly. "Nik, look who it is! Mommy and auntie Jules!" He turned Nikki slightly in his arms. Laughing, he thought it was funny that Nikki squealed for her mother as soon as she saw Arianna.
"Was she alright for you?" Arianna asked as soon as Kevin was close enough, gingerly taking her daughter and set her in the stroller, despite Nikki whining about dogs. While Julian happily spoke to Nikki, Arianna kept her attention focused on her baby's daddy. "She didn't cry too much or anything?"
"Don't worry, Ari," Kevin grinned lopsidedly at the redhead, flicking his bangs out of his face in order to shoot her a reassuring look. "I think I can handle my daughter. Here," he paused and reached into his pocket, pulling out a good thirty bucks. "Spend this on her." He looked pointedly at Arianna, though he knew he really didn't need to. Arianna was trustworth and respected his wishes for their daughter. If he were to give her a thousand dollars to spend solely on Nikki, she wouldn't spend a cent of it on herself. Kevin was grateful for that.
"Bye, baby," Kevin cooed quietly, bending down to affectionately kiss his daughter's forehead before shoving his hands into his pocket and quietly walked away. Well, he actually headed back down the trail, wanting to think a bit. He dearly loved Nikki, just...he preferred having other people believe that she was his neice. He didn't want to be judged, after all. Kevin sighed and rubbed his forehead, a bit frustrated. At least he hadn't needed to put up with Julian's remarks today, she had been too distracted by Nikki.
Kevin jogged down the rest of the trail and paused in the small field by the park, promptly flopped down onto his back as soon as he was there and stared up at the sky. He just needed to relax. He grinned absently to himself, staring at the clouds happily as they floated by. Oh, that one looked kind of like a duck.
