Rachel angrily scratched at her head, digging her nails into her scalp and sighed heavily. Far too stressful. She was perched on a high platform on the playground with a slide connected to it, probably scaring away any parents with their little kids, considering it was very obvious that she was hungover. She curled her legs up so that her knees were to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs.
"You need to get over this stupid as hell girl crush you have."
The blonde checked her phone, unhappily texting her best friend Dylan back. She reasoned that this morning, when they had fought, Dylan had only been looking out for her well-being. And now that she had time to think about it, she realized that Dylan was right. Her feelings were stupid and pointless. Really, that wasn't Rachel. She didn't like anyone.
"I don't have a fucking crush, Dylan. You're not right about everything all the time, you know!"
"Rachel, I know you. Do I need to kick her the fuck out of the clique? And what about that other bitch?"
"Don't, Dylan. I'm warning you."
"Or what?"
Rachel pocketed her phone again and sighed, resting her head against one of the bars connected to the platform. She should probably head back home. She already knew that Alexis, her dear little sister, would be worried about her. Considering she had just stormed out of there in a rage, she wasn't surprised about her sister's worry. In a bit, she promised herself, I'll go back in a bit. She was too busy talking to Dylan right now. She should probably call the girl, but...somehow, texting was just easier. She didn't have to control the tone of her voice through texts.
"I'll get over it. Paige and Karson...they aren't special. I promise. Just..let me think it over. I'm being stupid, I know. Suddenly liking two people? It's just tiny...I'll get over it."
And here she was, thinking about it. And it was stupid. She figured it was just some sort of weird attachment. Paige hadn't let her sleep with her, so Rachel thought about her more often than not. And Karson...well, she felt bad for getting the other girl in trouble from Dylan, so maybe those feelings had something to do with guilt. God, I'm fucking retarded.

Jared wasn't entirely sure why he decided to walk through the park. Then again, half of the time, he wasn't sure about anything. He rubbed the back of his head a bit, his red hair ruffling into a slight mess. The faint smell of a cigarette was on him, which was probably why anyone else sorta kept there distance, either that or the fact that Jared didn't really have a face that screamed friendly to strangers.
While he continued this walk, he glanced around. Eventually, he spotted a girl that was sitting on the playground. A teenage girl. Somewhat interested, and feeling a bit bold, he walked towards the playground. Quickly, he picked up that the blonde girl looked like she was hungover. There was something about hungover people and playgrounds.
Out of habit, he bit the back of the black piercing in his bottom lip. He went up the small stairs, apparently taking too long of a stride because he nearly tripped over one. His mismatched eyes looked down at his tattered old Converse. For the most part, he had been lazy this morning, just throwing on an old green Zoo York shirt and black jeans, although the fact that he had picked the shirt up off the floor was the lazy part. To him it didn't smell, but to be on the safe side he honestly gave the shirt a good dose of Febreze.
Already embarrassed, Jared quickly got himself situated then focused his attention back to the blonde, hungover, girl. "I was wondering why I didn't hear children screaming on the playground," he stated, since there obviously wasn't any kids around, probably because of the blonde girl.

Rachel narrowed her eyes slightly at the next text she got from Dylan that stated that Rachel better get over anything lovey-dovey she felt or she wouldn't like the consequences. Promising once again that she'd get over it, she shoved her phone back into her pocket, huming oddly and turned to look over her shoulder when she heard someone going up the incredibly small stairs. She noticed the other teenager on the stairs just as he nearly tripped over one. At least it was amusing, as was evident by the smirk on Rachel's face.
"Smooth," the blonde drawled, running one hand over her slightly messy hair. She didn't figure that she was going to run into anyone, so she hadn't really been thorough with brushing her hair. Oh well, it didn't really matter. She turned her attention back out, away from the playground and daydreamed for a moment before the other teenager spoke again. Trning her head over her shulder again, she stared blankly at him for a moment before commenting.
"Mm, yeah, that's prolly 'cause of me," Rachel muttered, distractedly smoothing the wrinkles out of her shirt. "Scarin' all the little kids away," she chuckled, tapping her fingers over where her phone was in her pocket. Rubbing her temple gently, she sighed. "Which is prolly a good thing. I think I might punch the first baby that cries near me, I've got such a pain-in-the-ass hangover." Yes, Rachel was freely admitting to her hangover to a stranger. It wasn't like it was a total mystery, after all.

Jared stopped on the platform that was a step down from the one that the blonde chick was on. The platforms were small, so he figured she'd like her space, and if she was one of those people that puked when they're hungover, he'd rather keep his distance. He sat down on the platform, sorta done with walking and standing for the moment.
He nodded, "I wish I thought of hogging the playground when I was hungover," he teased slightly. Honestly, he had no clue what the fuck he was talking about. Obviously, he must be bored, first he walked through the park, then approached the hungover, blonde chick, who apparently likes playgrounds. He shook his head, "I would always just lock my brother out of his apartment."
Still, he felt embarrassed for some reason, and that felt weird because normally he was an outspoken person, although a majority of the time he was being rude. Once again he messed with his hair a bit and tried to get his bangs out of his eyes because they were bugging him. He didn't care if his bangs covered his left eye since he could barely see out of that eye anyway.

Rachel smirked slightly with amusement, glancing towards the unoccupied swings not far away. She contemplated going to them, but thought against it. Not right now. Maybe later. "Bet your brother wasn't too happy 'bout that," she snickered, raking her fingers gingerly through her hair. Unhappily, she thought that maybe she should have popped more than just one Advil in the morning before she had run off to the playground. Dylan hadn't exactly given her time to think about such things, though.
"What brings you 'round here? I thought the hangover chick would scare you away," Rachel grinned good-naturedly, clearly comfortable with making fun of herself. Hungover Rachel wasn't someone that most people wanted to be around. She looked angry most of the time when she was hungover. In fact, the only reason she didn't look like that now was because her mind was occupied with someone else, managing to mostly distract her from the pounding pain in her head.

Jared shook his head, "It never made my brother happy," he replied. It had always turned out bad whenever Jared had locked his brother out of the apartment. Since the apartment had been on the first floor, the older brother would just get through a window. "But then again there were plenty of times where he'd be hungover and would chase me out of the apartment."
For a couple seconds, he glanced around the park. He could see other people around, but most of them kept their distance from the playground, and either ignored it or gave the two teenagers weird looks. When the girl spoke again, he turned his attention back towards her. He shrugged, "I don't know," he answered. "I just decided to wander around and coming over here seemed interesting enough."

Rachel snickered and smirked at him once again. "It only seemed interesting because I'm here," she joked, turning slightly so that she was at least facing his direction and leaned against the bar. Bringing her knees up to her chest once again, she eyed him for a moment or two. He seemed nice enough. Definitely someone that she could tolerate in her hungover state. If she had been around, say...her little sister Alexis, she would have tried to roundhouse kick Alexis through the tv and possibly the wall. Right now, she didn't feel any violent urges.
"I'm Rachel," the blonde introduced herself with a flick of her hair to properly uncover her face. She knew she looked like a creep with her face half-covered. She left it like that mostly to scare away the freshmen. With a snort of amusement, a broad grin appeared on her face again. "And you're one of the few people I don't feel like punching when I'm hungover, so good job."

A smirk tugged at Jared's mouth, mostly because the blonde chick was right, he had only come over because she was here. Normally, he never took chances with strangers, but he was in a completely new area and didn't know anyone. So, it had finally gotten to him and he wandered around with the purpose of actually meeting people. Although a hungover girl on a playground had been the last thing he thought he'd ever meet... scratch that, he never even thought he'd run into a hungover girl on a playground.
Jared then nodded, "I'm Jared," he responded. The smirk was still on his face as he continued with a shrug, "Well, apparently you're one of the first that's never wanted to punch me," he teased slightly. Honestly, no one at Rose Wood wanted to punch him so far, probably because he had done his best just to avoid trouble in the first place. Then he shook his head, "I've barely even gone around the school yet, I've just been too lazy." He somewhat tried to think of what he could do to help Rachel with her hangover, but didn't come up with much, also, he knew he was pretty much out of character.

Rachel chuckled and narrowed her eyes with amusement at him. "Normally I'd be lazy, but y'know...my best friend is a Queen Bee. I've got no choice but to walk around with her or she'll bite my head off," she laughed a bit. Dylan wasn't quite that intent on getting her to be by her side at all times, but it didn't hurt to joke a bit. Dylan was one of the...bitchier Queen Bees, so she enjoyed joking about Dylan's obvious anger issues.
Rachel gingely rubbed her forehead, rather happy that this slight conversation as distracting her from the throbbing at the front of her skull. She slowly slid away from the bar and flopped backwards onto her back, placing her hands behind her head and stared at the clouds. Oh yeah, this position was definitely a lot better. With a yawn, Rachel closed her eyes and shifted slightly to get comfortable. No, she wasn't going to fall asleep. She was just..relaxing. "Do you party?"

Jared just nodded, since he had never really gotten into the whole cliques thing back at his old school, normally because he wasn't around the school that much. Although at the moment he decided it was best just to not state this since he really had no idea what could set Rachel off, and he'd rather not get punched by a girl today... or any day for that matter.
When she laid down, Jared somewhat wondered if she was about to fall asleep, but then she asked him a question. He shook his head, "Not since I've gotten here," he answered. "Although at home I went to a lot of parties and just sorta did whatever," he added. Some part of him regretted the parties, mostly because the alcohol and drugs had messed him up and still had effects on him. Although the rest of him was glad for the parties, they got him away from everything, and he liked living in the moment.

Rachel opened her eyes when she realized that having her eyes closed was making her tired. Looking up at the bright sky, she completely woke herself back up and instead just stared at the sky blankly. "That's cool. It's the start of the year so I'm sure there's gonna be more parties once everyone gets settled. I expect you to be at some of them," she grinned her usual crooked grin, making it difficult to tell whether she was joking or being competely serious.
"Where'd you come from, anyway?" Rachel asked. "I came from New York. Kinda miss it. It was waaay better than this town," she snorted. "Why'd you come here, anyway? It's shitty here." Well, it wasn't actually that bad. Compared to New York City though? Yeah, it was pretty bad. Especially when the mystery creeper texting her every so often about the little incident with her friend and fire that she had about a year or so ago.

Jared smirked, "I'll be at parties no matter if I'm invited or not," he replied. She had a point though about the fact that the school year was just now starting so no wonder there weren't a lot of parties. He reached back and rubbed the back of his head a bit, his red hair ruffling again, although it went back in it's place once his hand pulled away.
"I lived in Austin, Texas," he answered. "I imagine it's not a good as New York, but I liked it better than this place," he replied. To him, downtown Austin was a place difficult to get bored with, he'd lived in the area a majority of his life and always found some entertainment. Then again, in a town where a random dance party could suddenly block the street, and you could hear music in the streets all day and night, it tended to be interesting.
Then he shrugged, "My mom got remarried and they moved here, and I got dragged along," he said to her question about why he was here now.

Rachel snickered with amusement. That was basically her attitude as well, but usually she was told to come to every party she went to, mostly because she was Dylan Rose's best friend. It was a bit irritating that that was always the main reason why she was told to come to parties, but it wasn't like she was insulted or offended. She knew how the high school system worked.
"Texas," Rachel repeated after a moment. When she thought of Texas, she thought of cowboys honestly. Cowboys with annoying accents. With a glance towards Jared, she decided that he didn't seem like one of those cowboys. "Sweet. I'm not really sure why we moved here 'sides the fact that it seemed nice," she chuckled, smoothing her hand out over her hair.

Jared smirked, "Yeah, I know I apparently don't look like what most people think a Texan would look like," he stated. "But I lived in Texas my whole life and barely saw any cowboys," he added. He leaned back against the railing of the playground and glanced around a bit. He still missed his home but for now he would just have to deal with this place and leave once he graduated. Then again, he wasn't exactly sure where he would go if he left.
"So, is there anything I need to know about this school? Like who to avoid and whatnot," he asked and looked back towards Rachel. He still remembered what his mother had said about avoiding parties. The boy had struggled with getting off some drugs and at parties he'd probably deal with the temptation of getting back into them. He didn't want to deal with that, but at the same time he didn't want to miss any parties.
