Why was class always so boring? Teacher going over the same thing over and over for the kids who didn't get it. And while the teacher did that those who had half a bit of sense to listen to the ten other times the teacher had explained it suffered the wrath of boredom.
Thankfully Aleksander Bolek was lucky enough to have his notebook with him. And, as it looked like he was taking notes he was actually drawing Reptar. Yes, the dinosaur from Rug Rats Reptar, he couldn't be popular and love a kids show too? Or at least he used to love it when he had no worries in the world.
Seeing as that changed, his entire dream scape changed. Nothing appealed to him quite the same anymore. Suddenly he snapped back to attention as the teacher started to talk again: "I'm going to assign you all to groups to work on the assignment for today." All he could do was sigh, he hated group work. So, so much.

Sitting in the corner of the room, Journey Ann happily hummed quietly to herself while she took near perfect notes. Her mind did occasionally wander to her dear brother, hoping he was feeling better than he had been that morning. That was why she was alone at the moment, actually. Usually Trevor sat next to her but seeing as how he wasn't there, she was quite lonely.
On one of the far sides of the classroom sat another girl, Jodie Shaw. She had a bit of a frown on her face, entirely lost in her thoughts. Like Joey, Jodie was also missing the only friend she had in this class; Koral. Her best friend and secret crush had skipped that class, probably to go hunt down her drug dealer. Distracted, Jodie realized that she was probably running low on her suply of heroin and could only hope that she could make this money. If she was lucky, Koral would share her stash with her.
When the teacher announced that they were going to be assigned into groups, Joey smiled brightly. It didn't matter who she was put with just so long as they were nice. With a quick glance around the class, her smile faltered slightly. There were...less than friendly looking people there but...maybe the teacher would be nice and put her with only the kind, non-intimidating people.

Tom exhaled deeply, trying to cope with his raging hangover.
I need a smoke.
Never the less he tried to catch the jist of what to do, and who his group was; assuming they were assigned to groups. He should have paid attention a little better, because chances are his teacher didn't only say it once.
He looked around the classroom, completely unsure of who half the people in the classroom were. Fuck, now what do I do? Wait until one of them comes up to me or something? Thomas drummed his fingers on his desk, giving up without putting an effort in the first place. He could always ask the teacher to repeat what she said, but they probably would be extremely annoyed with him.
He really could have used that cigarette right about now.

Now the teacher was starting to assign groups, and by then Aleksander had a sour look on his face. Group work was NOT his style, he didn't like the idea of someone else possibly being in charge. In fact, he didn't like the idea of working with people plain and simple. Although it wasn't like he had a choice. The teacher was starting to assign the groups, and as he looked around the room it seemed as if nobody was there that he honestly knew. Well, that he knew more than their name and what they looked like.
"The first group will be Aleksander, Journey, Jodie, and Tom." /Great./ He thought sarcastically. He just sat there and waited for them to converge around him or pick some sort of meeting point. Because he didn't feel like moving. Yes, yes he was that selfish. Plus he doubted any of them gave as much of a damn about group work as he did, and in the off chance they did? Well tough luck.
Maybe he was being a bit /too/ sour. If he was going to think and act that this entire class would suck, it would suck, maybe he should try and be a bit more optimistic? Although it didn't show on his face automatically, he managed to lift his spirit a bit, and wipe the scowl off his face. Now it was replaced by a relatively indifferent look, but that was better than nothing, wasn't it?

Joey smiled happily at her name, doing her best to identify all of these people. Seeing one girl frown and lean back slightly at the name 'Jodie', she assumed that that was who Jodie was. Tom...well, she knew the guy that talked funny had been called Tom once or twice while she was around. It was hard to not know who Aleksander was. Not letting it show whether she had any negative feelings about this group or not, Joey happily got up and trotted over to Aleksander.
"I'm Journey. You can just call me Joey if you want," the blonde smiled kindly at Aleksander, rather unaware of what she was in for. She said that exact same thing when Jodie got up and walked over, her eyes widening in delight when Jodie introduced herself as 'Jodielee, but you can call me Jodie'. It was so like her own introduction! Maybe they could be friends. Joey didn't have many friends, unfortunately.
While Joey was easily distracted by her own cheerful thoughts, Jodie glanced at Aleksander. She knew that Koral knew him, but she didn't really ever talk to him. She preferred not getting mixed up in that clique, honestly. Honestly, Jodie found it weird that he was a Queen Bee but she didn't figure that it was a good idea to voice these thoughts. "What's the project, anyway?" She asked politely, glancing around for the last member of the group.

Thomas was relieved to hear he hadn't missed the group assigning. He sighed and was going to take a wild guess at who his group was. The two bubbly girls and the moody looking lad they had all gathered around. He slid out of his desk and slumped over to them, "M'gonna guess tha' this is m'group. Considerin' I know none of yo'names, feel free t'direct me to m'propa' group if I'm wrong."
He was not in the mood to speak much, and wouldn't be for the most part. His thick accent hindered him from voicing his thoughts for the most part, unable to get his point across very easily.

As rude as it probably was, Aleksander couldn't help but make his right eye start twitching. A habit of his when he got annoyed at people. So far there was an overly-peppy girl, one that seemed at least a bit bubbly, and some twit he could barely understand through his accent. This was going to be a GREAT day. It took him a moment to stop his eye from twitching. /You're trying not to be rude, remember?/
Well it was rather hard to remember. "I'm Aleksander, but you can call me Alek if you want." Somehow he managed to take the annoyance out of his voice, and it was rather smooth. Probably a bit to smooth, because it seemed like he WAS covering something up. Although he didn't have time to right himself as the teacher started to speak again. "Your assignment today is to make a floral collage, you have all class-period."
Great, all class-period with these fools. It was hard to not form an expression of displeasure. Not to mention that he likely wouldn't be one to take charge in this situation. Aleksander was horrible at art, he just needed to take the elective. And he would bet money that at least one of the people sitting next to him was an amazing artist.

Joey glanced at Tom and thoughtfully bit the inside of her bottom lip. What...what was he saying? She struggled to make out the words (probably having a bit too much trouble). What kind of an accent was this? "Um...I'm Journey, but call me Joey if it's easier." Unaware that this comment could very well be an indirect comment on his accent, Joey smiled kindly at him before looking back at Aleksander. "It's nice to meet you!"
Jodie sighed a bit and listened quietly to the teacher. "I'll go get some...magazines," the brunette decided, offering the others a bit of a smile before heading off towards one of the cupboards. She wasn't too thrilled (and feeling a bit timid) to be in a group without Koral, but hopefully she could get over it.
Joey nodded happily after Jodie before looking between Aleksander and Tom. "Okay, well...someone should get newspapers," she hummed, contemplating getting them herself. "And someone else get scissors. I'll find glue!" She announced, delighted to have given herself something to do, before toddling off to the cupboard that contained gluesticks and liquid glue.

Tom eyed Joey's struggling expression until she dawdled off to get supplies with the other girl. He groaned in distaste and wandered away himself to get scissors. He didn't like the vibe he was getting from Alek anyways. This period was going to be a complete drag.
He made his way to the back cupboards, searching around for scissors that weren't stuck together or dull enough to ride bare-ass on. Having to do some major rearranging, he managed to procure a few pairs of decent ones. Tom walked back to Alek's desk and set the supplies down, not planning on making an effort to talk to this boy.

Aleksander sighed. He might as well go and get the newspapers and make himself useful, before someone complained and he started something. Because he knew that he damn-well would. Any complaints he addressed with cold fire, and he didn't want to get into trouble today. Especially since this seemed like a class where they'd be doing a lot of group work.
With a sigh, and a slight roll of his eyes Aleksander began to sort through newspapers until he found a few that were actually worth using. Not worrying if anyone else sorting through the pile wanted them, he returned to his desk and set them down. It didn't seem that the other guy was going to try striking any sort of conversation with him, so he didn't waste his energy on him.
This class was going to be lame, and he could tell already. /I knew I should have taken theater arts instead!/ He thought angrily to himself. Well it was a bit late now, the class was probably already full so he wouldn't be able to transfer. No, he'd have to try and make an effort to get along with these people as much as he despised the thought. At least these weren't people he already hated though.

Joey hummed happily and grabbed a few glue sticks and a bottle of liquid glue before trotting back to the desk and setting them down, flashing a smile when she noticed that everything was there after Jodie came back with the magazines. At the moment, she could tell that she was the ball of sunshine in the group. The bright yellow shirt she was wearing certainly helped that.
"So what...do we just go through these looking for flowers?" Jodie asked and raised an eyebrow after taking a seat, smoothing her hair back absently. This was going to be awkward and painful, she could already tell.
"I guess so!" Joey happily sat down next to Jodie, still smiling away and grabbed one of the magazines. "Oh shoot. Jodie, could you go get the paper we're supposed to put all this stuff on?" The blonde watched with delight when Jodie simply nodded and got up. She then turned her attention back to Tom and Aleksander, desiring some sort of conversation. "So why are you two in art? Do you like drawing? Or sculpting?"

Tom cringed at her voice. It grated against his ears and made his headache even more unbearable. He had no problem with the project, but the people he was assigned to. "M'a photographa', the photography class woz full though." He spoke with a tone that suggested extreme boredom of the subject, but he loved photography. He ought to love it, the amount of money he's put into the craft.
He needed a smoke, and to just shut his eyes and sleep. Sleep forever until he needed another cigarette. If only it were that simple; sadly he couldn't just shut everything out for a little while and cope with the nauseous feeling in the pit of his stomach and the nagging headache that had been floating around since he had woken up.

"I hate drawing, sculpting, anything artistic really. I'm just in here for the creative arts credit." Aleksander said, he almost mentioned that he especially hated photography, just to see how pissed off at him he could make Tom. But it was true, he would much rather be in some other class doing something productive, rather than being a few seconds away from falling asleep.
Looking at all the supplies he honestly had no idea where to start, although he was planning on taking charge. /Well of course we need to start looking for the pictures first, then we have to cut them out and set them aside. Then we glue 'em together and it's finished./ Well, if they wanted input from him that's what he'd say. He really just wanted to sit back and watch all of them do it.

Joey nodded slowly after a moment, a faint look of confusion showing up on her face. M'a photographa? My photographer? Is he drunk? She coughed slightly, grabbing a pair of scissors and cut out a picture of a flower from the magazine. "That's cool. I like drawing. I'm not good at it, but it's fun," she hummed. Aleksander sounded a lot like her brother. Trevor was only in his class because Joey was there and he needed the credits. Joey was happy with the company.
Jodie returned with the large piece of bristol board, wondering how they could possibly fill this entire thing up. She sighed and put it in the middle of the table, grabbing a newspaper and actually started reading a story on the page that she had opened it to.
Joey was slightly disheartened when the conversation didn't continue. Quickly, she tried to figure out something else to say. "What do you guys like to do for fun?"

Tom had caught that Alek was going to list another activity he disliked greatly, but figured it wasn't worth it to press him further. He sighed, setting to work on going through some of the newspapers. "Drink," he chuckled as he answered her question while he tore pages he found somewhat useful away and set them aside to be sorted with. "Ai play th'drums as well."
He was trying to figure out how the Hell they were supposed to make a floral collage with newspapers. Maybe if they had gotten a gardening magazine or something the task wouldn't be so tedious.
